Covid-19 Office Update
Infection control changes we have implemented at Rocky Mountain Laser Dentistry to address the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Here at Rocky Mountain Laser Dentistry we are committed to having a predictably clean and safe environment. We have instituted a multitude of changes to address the concerns that COVID-19 has created for practicing dentistry safely. Below are changes that we have implemented to keep both patients and providers a safe as possible while providing the best care possible.
•
All staff members are screened daily with a health questionairre and temperature taken. An staff member that has a temperature above 100.4 degrees or has any slight symptoms will be sent home pending further evaluation.
•
All patients are screened the day of their appointment with a health questionairre received by email. Any patient that is deemed moderate or high risk for infection transmission will be reschedule at least 2 weeks out.
•
A virtual waiting room has been implemented. This means that when patients arrive they will stay in their car and call to let us know they are at the building. We will then let patients know when to proceed to our office. This way there will not be more than one person in our waiting area or near the front desk at any point in time. We ask that any person accompanying the patient remain in their car during the appointment. Only in cases where there is a minor or a patient requires assistance will an accompanying person be allowed in the office.
•
A forehead temperature will be taken with a non contact thermometer at the entrance to our office. Any patient with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or above will not be permitted to enter the office.
•
Hand sanitizer will be provided upon entering the office and at the conclusion of each appointment.
•
All staff will be wearing head coverings, KN-95 or N-95 mask, surgical mask, eye protection, face shield, gloves, lab jackets, and shoes coverings when in direct contact with patients. Any procedure performed that produces aerosols will require providers to change their head covering, surgical mask, face shields, gloves, lab jackets and shoe coverings prior to meeting with another patient. Procedures that do not produce aerosols will require providers to change their surgical mask, gloves, lab jackets and completely disinfect/sanitize or replace their face shield. All providers are required to thoroughly sanitize their hands before and after any appointments.
•
All of our operatory doorways have been covered to reduce aerosol movements within the office.
•
Each operatory is equipped with a HEPA air filtration system with UV-C sanitizer to remove aerosols from the air and kill viruses.
•
Each operatory is equipped with a cool mist humidifier that mists the room with a 1:10 hypochlorous acid solution/water to sanitize the air and surfaces. Hypochlorous acid is a cleaning solution that is more antiviral than bleach and completely safe and non-toxic (so safe the USDA as approved it for organic crop production). You may find more information about hypochlorous acid at:
www.forceofnatureclean.com/hypochlorous-acid-uses/
•
Extensive barrier materials are placed over all surfaces that the doctor, staff and patients come in to contact with in the operatories. Additional time has been scheduled for each appointment to allow for all surfaces to be sanitized and all barrier material to be replaced after each patient. On average, an additional 30 minutes per operatory has been scheduled for cleaning, changing of barriers and time for the air to be purified by the HEPA/UV-C filters.
•
When possible on procedures where aerosols will be produced we will be using an additional high volume suction device that is placed in the mouth during the procedure. We have found that patients find this device quite comfortable. This additional device helps to contain aerosols produced during certain procedures such has when a high speed handpiece or the Waterlase is in use. More information about this device can be found at: www.releafdental.com
•
When procedures are completed, patients are asked to stay in the operatories until the patient intake area and front desk are free of other patients, and then brought to the front for check out. This maintains social distancing with other patients within the office.
As you can see, we are taking every precaution to make our visit as safe as possible. If you have any questions about our procedures, please contact our office and a staff member or Dr. Wood would be happy to assist you.
